International Network Development Intern ('s-Gravenhage)


The Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) in the Hague regularly has an opening for an intern. The Netherlands Water Partnership is a network of Dutch organisations in the water sector with international ambitions. It is the first point of call for anyone seeking Dutch water expertise.

NWP’s members include companies, government agencies, knowledge institutions and NGOs with one thing in common - to join forces for sustainable water solutions worldwide.


During your internship, you will be working together in a dynamically composed team and with other NWP colleagues, based in our office in The Hague, and you will have frequent contact with organisations in the extensive water sector, government institutions and other bodies. The intern's work can range from organizing and facilitating meetings, organization of incoming visits by foreign delegations, writing newsletters or performing special (research) assignments. Projects in which you have a role to play, can vary from drinking water to water construction, from sanitation to irrigation techniques. In all situations, you will want to create added value for the participants in the network. These participants are diverse; from small to large, governments, companies, NGOs and research foundations.


We are looking for an intern with an interest in the (international) water sector, and with excellent communication and organizational skills to support us in varied assignments:

  • Attending (also preparation and reporting) of meetings and presentations.
  • Support with the introduction of data in a new relations management system.
  • Approaching concerned parties and collecting information about initiatives or results on which to communicate via the websites, newsletter, social media, etc.
  • You will assist in the organization of networking events and matchmaking activities.
  • You will write documents like updates and newsletters for the countries on which you are working.
  • You will assists in the organization of incoming and outgoing missions.

What we want:

  • A relevant field of study (a background in water is preferred, not required).
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in Dutch and English.
  • Good social skills, environmental awareness/ organizational sensitivity and representativity.
  • A stress-resistant and flexible working attitude with a proper dose of curiosity.
  • Preferably: affinity with international cooperation.
  • A team player who gains energy from working together.


  • An internship of at least 4 days a week for preferably 5 to 6 months 
  • Graduation research in combination with cooperation is also possible in consultation.
  • A placement fee based on training and time commitment.
  • Above all, a challenging and innovative learning environment in which initiative is appreciated!
